Showcasing innovative concepts

Excitement and curiosity filled the air this week as dozens of green pagoda tents popped up across campus. Another milestone for our first-year Tourism Management students. They hosted the Next Gen Hospitality Talents pop-up event, showcasing innovative hospitality concepts for recreation parks. This concluded the last theme block of the year.

Innovations for tomorrow’s holiday parks

Over the past nine weeks, the students have been researching hospitality concepts for various holiday parks, including Center Parcs, Landal, EuroParcs, RCN Vakantieparken, and Summio Parcs. They explored hospitality and guestology, the use of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) in hospitality companies and current practices.

The goal of the assignment was to future-proof the commissioners holiday park and make it attractive to the next generation of guests.

Collect as many tips as possible

Visitors voted for their favorite concepts using symbolic currency, turning the event into a vibrant marketplace of ideas. The enthusiasm was contagious, and many business cases were “sold” by the students with passion and creativity.

Under the festive tents, students pitched ideas like:

  • Guest vegetable gardens
  • More accessible holiday accommodations
  • Local food tours to support local business
  • Shuttle services to reduce traffic congestion at popular destinations
  • Smart apps, loyalty games and sustainability education
  • Storytelling and branding strategies

Huge thanks to our clients and guests who supported and judged the pitches and to HISWA-RECRON for opening this special day.

This event marked a wonderful conclusion to the students first chapter in Tourism Management. Looking forward to their next destination in the second year.
