New Management for CELTH

The new CELTH management will continue the current research programme on destinations, sustainability, leisure, and hospitality together with the team. CELTH's efforts within various networks, including the National Council for Recreation and Tourism, the Hospitality Pact, and the Professional Doctorate, will also remain unchanged. 

Further discussions with other universities of applied sciences in the leisure domain will be held to look into the possibility of an expansion of CELTH. The new management will also engage in discussions with companies in the leisure, tourism and hospitality sectors to explore how CELTH can make a greater impact in these fields.

Jorrit Snijder, President of the Executive Board of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) and the CELTH Board: ’Jos and Anke jointly have extensive experience in the field of research, tourism and administration and have a good network. I am convinced that they can make a good connection between the social challenges of the industry on the one hand and solutions from education and research on the other. This is important for the future development of CELTH.’

Jos van der Sterren: ’CELTH has acquired a unique position in the Netherlands. I hope to be able to expand this further and look forward to collaborating with the multidisciplinary team from the universities of applied sciences.’

Anke Arts: ’In the past period at CELTH, I have already been able to experience and contribute to the power of collaboration across universities of applied sciences and domains. I look forward to furthering the ambitions with sector partners and hospitality.’

About Jos van der Sterren, Anke Arts and CELTH

Jos van der Sterren is a senior researcher and lecturer at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). Previously, he was programme director of the Research and Graduate School (BUas), director of the Academy for Tourism (BUas), and worked at OxfamNovib and Cordaid.

Anke Arts is a researcher at the European Tourism Futures Institute of NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences and is responsible for policy and development at CELTH. She previously worked at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, LAgroup and Amsterdam RAI, among others.

CELTH, the Centre of Expertise in Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality, is one of the fifty Centres of Expertise in the Netherlands. CELTH is an important part of the knowledge infrastructure in the Netherlands within the domains of leisure, tourism and hospitality. CELTH is a collaboration between Breda University of Applied Sciences, HZ University of Applied Sciences and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences.
