Centered around the overarching theme of sustainability, the program featured activities such as sustainable mobility as an experience, mapping travel mobilities and a stakeholder debate.

Three stakeholders, three different perspectives

During the project block our industry partners Flixbus, De Jong Intra Vakanties, and KLM delivered an inspiring presentation about their companies and how they address sustainable challenges in the tourism industry. In the final phase of the Travel Mobility project, students represented a diverse array of tourism stakeholders during a debate. The insights shared by our guest speakers helped them understand that different stakeholders have different perspectives on the challenges in the industry.

Mapping travel mobilities

How do tourist travel to a destination? What kind of travel modalities are used on the destination itself? What are the impacts of the travel connection on the society, the economy, and the environment? During the Travel Mobility project our students engage in understanding the mobility system at a destination. Using their creativity, they displayed the answers to these questions on a self-created map.

Exploring different sides of sustainability

Travel Mobility was commissioned by our professorship Centre for Sustainability, Tourism and Transport (CSTT). Integrating the CSTT research projects directly with education.

Sustainability a theme was perceived well in the block; students indicated they learned more about the complexity and new elements such as social sustainability.

Next stop on the route for our first-year students: Tourism Hospitality.
