A long-running research on how tourism, leisure, aviation, and hospitality companies respond to social media queries reached over 500,000 'reads'!
Tourism Management students from the E-Tourism specialisation provide the data in the Social Media Research module. This year, they have done 416 mystery posts, doing a 'compliment post' on Instagram, and asking a question with a post from the company. On Facebook, they examined the chat possibilities and responding to a comment, again to a company post. The findings show that social media handling and monitoring is still lacking in many ways, and offers many opportunities at the same time. Fellow researcher leader Jeroen Vinkesteijn wrote four widely read blogs about this, which are highly rated in the industry and can be found on Emerce.
